Dear Parents/Carers,
This is our first term in Year 1, so here we go! This term the school theme is “Who? What? Where? When? Why?” with a focus on history, and the Year 1 topic is the Victorians. We are focusing on Brilliant Brunel and will explore his many local achievements including the Clifton Suspension Bridge, the SS Great Britain and most in-depth will be the Great Western Railway. We are starting off the topic with a special visit from a train driver to engage the children and spark their interest in our topic.
In Literacy, we will be using a range of texts, including stories, poems, comic strips and video clips to encourage the children to write in lots of different ways.
The children will also have individual reading books that will be changed twice a week on a Wednesday and a Friday, so please ensure your child brings their book back on these days.
Hopefully there will be a class trip to the SS Great Britain at the end of term... more details coming soon!
Miss Bilson
Hi, my name is Tara Bilson and St Anne’s Park Primary is my first teaching post. I qualified from the University of Chichester in May 2011 and cannot wait to create fun and memorable learning experiences for Sycamore class.
In my spare time, I enjoy experimenting in the kitchen, watching films and socialising with friends. I love travelling and some of my favourite places are North Africa, the Greek Islands and Turkey.
