Classes - Oak

Oak class is a Reception class. Most of us go into Reception class after the Nursery but each year there are some children who come to join us from other early years settings.  We welcome them and they quickly settle in with us. 

We use the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum and our classroom is always a lively and busy place to be.  We have our own outside area which is straight through the open classroom door and now has a canopy to shelter us from the drizzle and from the sun in summer.  This is our ’outdoor classroom’ and we are learning all the time outside as well as inside.p>

We learn our sounds using the Letters and Sounds programme and we are in groups for practising these sounds with our teacher.  We are early readers and we have lots of access to books and stories.  We love story time!  We do counting and maths every day.

Sometimes we go to the Foundation Stage play area. This is where we can climb and ride bikes or practice throwing and catching.  It is where we do some of our physical development but not all because we also have PE lessons! 

We have the wonderful Miss Wooldridge  to teach us and the superb Mrs Rae to help and support us.

On Tuesday mornings between 9 and 10 we have our PEEP group and all parents and carers are encouraged to attend this session.  For more information please look at the link from Elm class.

We also invite parents and carers to our sing-alongs where they are encouraged to join us to learn and enjoy the songs with their children.
